Cookies and similar technologies

Some of the automatic collection described above is facilitated by the following technologies:

  • Cookies: Small text files that websites store on user devices. They allow web servers to record users’ browsing activities and remember submissions, preferences, and login status. Our sites use “session cookies” (deleted when a session ends), “persistent cookies” (remain longer), as well as both “first party” and “third party” cookies.
  • Local storage technologies: Such as HTML5, which provide similar functionality to cookies and can store larger amounts of data on your device outside of your browser.
  • Web beacons: Also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, used to indicate that a webpage or email was accessed or that certain content was viewed or clicked.
  • Session-replay technologies: For example, FullStory records users’ interactions (clicks, mobile app touches, mouse movements, scrolls, and keystrokes) to help diagnose usability problems and identify areas for improvement. Learn more about FullStory’s Privacy Policy and opt-out of session recording here.
